Launched in January 1996, the Motorola StarTAC (Model 130, as seen in your photos) was the world's first flip phone and arguably the first "fashion-tech" accessory in history. Motorola's engineers, inspired by the "communicators" from Star Trek, achieved a radical breakthrough in miniaturization.
