All of the buttons and the screen works fine and it does play a tune when picked up. Battery compartment is clean. Not fully tested as I do not have a landline. Will be shipped without the batteries to avoid any fire risk, it will need rechargable batteries to work with the charging station. Please note that this is "Type A", I also have another listing for "Type B". It seems to be the same model with slightly different design/look.
